Mount KilaueaMount Kilauea is a shield volcano. Kilauea was formed by relatively gentle lava flow over a large area. One characteristic of a shield volcano is that it resembles a warriors shield. Mount Kilauea is located in Hawaii. It is the youngest volcano amongst all of the volcanic islands of Hawaii. Mount Kilauea is located on the Pacific Plate at 20.55 degrees latitude and -156.57 degrees longitude. It is a part of the North American continent, More specifically, the United States of America.
