FAQ
Q. Why do some volcanoes erupt explosively whereas others erupt quietly?
A.Three important factors control whether an eruption will be explosive or quiet. One is the amount of water vapor and other gases that are trapped in the magma. The other factor is how much silica is present in the magma. And temperature.
Q.Many people in Pompeii died as a result of suffocation during the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. What might have caused their suffocation?
A. The reason is simple, When the volcano erupted it released tons of ash so literally it was raining hot burning ash. And since the ash was in the air for about 19 hours almost everyone sucked in a large amount of ash which is very hot and it burned their lungs causing them to suffocate.
Q.How is it possible that a volcanic island, such as Surtsey, is now home to many different organisms? Explain.
A.As soon as weathering provides any cracks, plant life brought to the island by seabirds who put their fecal matter into the cracks. These plants take hold where they can and due to the volcanic nature of volcanic soil they often do very well, even though they obviously start out small. Over hundreds or thousands of years they might have a complete working ecosystem primarily of plants and birds.
Q.When was the most recent eruption of your volcano?
A. 5 September 2014 Bárdarbunga erupted
Q.When was the most destructive eruption of the volcano?
A. China: 260 Million Years ago
The most destructive volcano ever was in China 260 million years ago. It was so deadly it changed the landscape. Not only did it change landscapes but the climate with all of its gasses pouring out, after the gasses were released it became this cold place but i will explain that later. So the volcano it self was huge with huge amounts of magma stored in it so just imagine a volcano that big ready to blow.
The landscape changed a whole lot when it erupted and i mean a lot. I mean the lave could have melted some of the landscape and then it turned into igneous rock. And after the landscape changed into igneous rock , then the weathering kicked in and starts to wear down the rocks. So now you have rivers and wore down rocks all over the place and then cracks form and plant start to grow and then you got dirt and then the landscape is different and not the sam as it once was.
The climate has the most affect then landscapes changing. You first have ash covering up the sun and not to mention the ash is also killing thing in its way because its super hot and has many gasses in the ash. Second you got the greenhouse effect going on due to all the chemicals moving around. And then not only is it getting warm but it is also going to cover up the son for days and hours, basically suffocating everyone and everything.
